Pilates is a method of exercise originally created by Joseph Pilates in the 1940’s.  Pilates is often compared to yoga, but unlike yoga, Pilates uses a system of specially designed resistance equipment to uniformly tone and strengthen the entire body.  A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured and better able to move efficiently.

Pilates is a safe, body-friendly exercise method that allows for various modifications to accommodate any type of condition. Quality of movement is emphasized over quantity to leave you energized and balanced after every session, not too exhausted or overly sore.  If you practice Pilates regularly, it will change your body. Here are some of the many benefits of Pilates.

YOGA CLASSES

Children’s Yoga Class- This class is great for kids who want to move and be active with others. They start by learning to breathe from the belly, become aware of their breath and how their body moves and works. We have fun with the different poses, relating them to animals, structures and other relatable items. Finally we end each class with a calming, guided, meditation, teaching them how important quiet time is and learning how to relax their bodies in a calm way.

Top 3 reasons kids should practice yoga- 1. It develops them physically and mentally, 2. It increases their self esteem and self confidence, and 3. It teaches them the art of meditation

Teen Yoga Class- Teens participate in a class where there is no competition and are able move their bodies into poses they are capable of and see how their bodies improve over time as they learn how to hold the pose and improve the posture and advance over time. They end each class with a guided meditation. My hope is that this calming time is able to bring awareness to their daily lives and help them breathe and guide themselves through moments in time that may be difficult, hard or frustrating.

Top 3 reasons teens should practice yoga- 1. It helps improve concentration and focus, 2. It helps reduce stress, and 3. It gives them time to recharge their energy

Adult Strong Spine Class- This class is for all levels, but should be noted for those who are advanced yogis, that this class will flow more like a Restorative and Yin class, using props to ease the pose. Come spend a hour away from the day to day hustle and give your body and mind a break. This class focuses on moving through the asanas(poses) at a comfortable pace. Each class will conclude with a Savansana- lying guided meditation to leave you relaxed, calm and ready to tackle the rest of your day.

Top 3 reasons adults should practice yoga- 1. It relieves stress, 2. It increases sleep quality, and 3. It relieves Chronic Back Pain
